The South West Expo rolls back into STEAM

The region’s biggest business exhibition – The South West Expo – returns to STEAM in Swindon next Thursday, July 7.

More than 85 exhibitors will be at the event, and 500+ delegates are expected to attend.

Business owners will be able to pick up tips from an array of guest speakers including Kevin Byrne, founder of Checkatrade.com, 4Networking founder and motivational speaker Brad Burton, and GDPR expert Paul Day (pictured), technical director of document management specialist Filestream.

Kevin Byrne went from sleeping in his car, to founding the world’s first online review website and building a business worth £2.37 billion.

He is known as one of the great pioneers of business in the UK. His frank and engaging presentations have now made him one of the best speakers, speaking all over the world on his trials and tribulations from nothing to one of the UK’s most successful businessmen.

A hugely successful businessman in his own right Kevin Byrne works tirelessly to share with budding businesses and entrepreneurs the lessons almost two decades of business ownership have taught him.

Brad Burton – in his own inimitable style – will be talking about how he pivoted his £2 million public speaking and networking business when the pandemic hit and work opportunities dried up.

Paul Day, who has worked with the UK-based company for more than 25 years, will be talking about cyber security, document management and GDPR at the show which takes place on Thursday July 7.

“Many companies, even smaller ones, have a mountain of documents online which are scattered and can be hard to find at a moment’s notice. This also can mean that a company’s most sacred documents are at risk from cyber invasions – either through a virus or a hijack attempt online.

“I will help visitors understand those risks and offer some tips and solutions – including, of course, our own Filestream solution which provides a cost effective way to keep documents safe, secure, encrypted yet easy to access for those who need them,” Paul said.

Filestream, based in Berkshire, is the main sponsor for the Great British Expos this year and has provided sponsorship to allow many SMEs to get back to face to face business following the pandemic.

The company provides document management software to some of the biggest brands and also to some world-famous celebrities who run their own personal brands. Their customers include Anglia Farmers, University of Hull, Kingsley Health Care, Carnival UK, Scania and BNP Paribas.

“It’s wonderful to give back to the business community in this way and to be part of the solution as we all ‘get back to business’,” Paul said.

Alec Jones-Hall, founder of Great British Expos, said: “The South West Business Expo is always one of our most popular events during the year, with this year set to be the most anticipated yet.

“Whilst our virtual exhibitions have provided a unique opportunity during the toughest periods of the pandemic, building face-to-face relationships is still an important part of business, and exhibitions provide an ideal opportunity to do this.

“The return of this year’s business expo will help local businesses spotlight their brand and gain new leads and connections. Along with the exciting programme of seminars and entrepreneurial keynote speakers on offer, exhibiting and attending the Business Expo will provide businesses with a platform to continue recovering and thriving.”

The Expo runs from 10am until 3pm. Attendance is free. Tickets are available at https://www.greatbritishexpos.co.uk/south-west-expo-swindon/
