Flexible & Hybrid Working
From the 5th April 2024, the right to request flexible working came into place. This is a way of working that suits an employee’s needs, for example having flexible start and finish times, or working from home.
All employees now have the legal right to request flexible working from their first day in a new job – this is known as ‘making a statutory application’.
An employer can refuse an application if they have a good business reason for doing so, however they must deal with requests in a ‘reasonable manner’, or the employee can take them to an employment tribunal.
Solve the logistics of Hybrid Working
File Stream can significantly enhance hybrid working environments by streamlining document-related processes, improving collaboration across dispersed teams and maintaining high levels of security and compliance in a hybrid working model.
Centralised storage and access
File Stream in the Cloud ensures employees can access the documents they need without being physically present in the office.
IT
Security
Getting the right IT Infrastructure in place can be time consuming and expensive.
Using File Stream in the Cloud takes care of multiple IT requirements such as Server maintenance, Backup and Antivirus.
Centralised storage and access
Working as a team is greatly facilitated by using File Stream.
Multiple team and work groups can be set up, including guests accessing information via secure, time controlled links.
Filestream can help with the Application Process
File Stream Workflows can help manage the handling and processing of requests in a reasonable manner. For example (and based on the Government Guidance) the basic application steps are:
- The employee writes to the employer – this can kick start an application workflow in File Stream
- The employer discusses the employee’s request with them and makes a decision on it within 2 months – or longer if agreed with the employee.
- If the employer agrees to the request, they must change the terms and conditions in the employee’s contract.
- If the employer disagrees, they must tell the employee giving the business reasons for the refusal. The employee may be able to complain to an employment tribunal.
All of these steps can be set up and routed to the appropriate mangers or HR contacts via a workflow, as well as linking applications to diary reminders, employee records and storing all communications for future reference.

Mobile App
Easy access to documents is a necessity to the success of any business. This was very much in our focus as Filestream developed its mobile products.
The result; Mobile Apps are available for iOS and Android devices. Our Apps are free of charge and offer full functionality with the exception of the SCAN feature.
If your choice is to opt for a CLOUD solution, then the Mobile Apps will form part of it.
If it suits your business better to install our Window’s ON PREMISE networked product, then to make use of our Mobile Apps an IIS (Internet Information Services) server and an external facing IP address will be required.
Internet connection will be needed, either through Wi-Fi or mobile data plan.
